Anne Reid, Church Choir and Vestry Member

Anne Reid brings a unique blend of artistic passion and servant leadership to Saint James Episcopal Church. Originally from Mt. Pleasant, Anne discovered Saint James when she moved to James Island, drawn initially by the church's gorgeous campus and beautiful grounds.

As both a vestry member and alto in the church choir, Anne embodies the spirit of active participation that makes Saint James special. Her journey back to choral singing began after a ten-year hiatus, when she realized how much she missed "being a part of the larger spectrum of the human voice." She finds deep fulfillment in how voices fit together "like pieces in a puzzle," bringing fifteen years of musical experience that includes amateur, collegiate, and semi-professional ensembles, along with seven years of private voice study.

Anne's love for music runs deep, particularly drawn to pieces with "mysterious, haunting sounds." Her favorite composers include Ola Gjeilo and Paul Mealor, though she holds a special place in her heart for Fauré's Requiem, which she grew up singing. What she treasures most about being part of the Saint James choir is "finding connection with other people through music."

Professionally, Anne works as an arts photographer with previous experience in the bridal industry - a perfect fit for her role helping with weddings at the church. Her artistic eye extends beyond her professional work; she's also an extra in almost anything that films in South Carolina, adding a touch of Hollywood glamour to her already interesting life.

Anne was drawn to church leadership through encouragement from staff members and is passionate about Saint James being "a safe community for all" where everyone is "accountable to each other." She particularly values how the church respects different voices and viewpoints, and she's excited about seeing the congregation grow and the gorgeous space used for weddings.

In her personal time, Anne enjoys walking, cooking, and photographing performing arts and artists. She's especially committed to James Island Outreach, believing that food donation is "a terrific way to give and serve others." Her favorite Bible verse, Hebrews 13:14, reflects her forward-looking faith: "For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come."

With her warm personality, artistic talents, and dedication to community, Anne represents the welcoming spirit that makes everyone feel at home at Saint James Episcopal Church.
