James Kendall, Choir Member
James Kendall brings a wealth of musical experience and passion to the bass section of Saint James Episcopal Church choir. Though he's been singing with the choir for just a few months, James has quickly become an integral part of the musical ministry that drew him to Saint James.
A Mount Pleasant resident, James comes to Saint James with impressive musical credentials. He studied organ performance at Brevard College and has been playing violin since elementary school. His choral experience includes singing in both adult choirs at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg, which has given him a deep appreciation for Episcopal musical traditions.
James's musical tastes run toward the classical and sacred, with a particular love for performing various Requiem masses and the organ works of J.S. Bach and Leon Boellmann. When asked about his favorite piece performed with the Saint James choir, he highlights "When To the Temple Mary Went," though he admits there are "too numerous to choose" when it comes to selecting a favorite hymn overall.
What James enjoys most about being part of the Saint James choir is "singing with such a great group of people," a sentiment that perfectly captures the warm, welcoming spirit that defines the Saint James Episcopal Church’s musical community. His combination of formal training, extensive experience, and genuine love for sacred music makes him a valuable addition to the choir's mission of enhancing worship through beautiful music.
